One real draft, start to finish, including what was wrong with it

This is the actual output of one run, not a sample we wrote. A real company, the pages we read, the sentences we quoted, and the three emails that came out. Then the part most products would have deleted: a prospect read this page, followed the links, and showed us that all four quotes were that company's own sales copy. The run is still here, unedited, with the fix running over it.

Generated 31 August 2026 against www.cockroachlabs.com, unedited.

The prospect

Cockroach Labs

Database Infrastructure SoftwareEnterprise & Mid-Market
www.cockroachlabs.com

The crawler starts at the homepage and follows the internal links most likely to carry sales signal. On this run it read four pages, including the professional services page that two of the four quotes come from. Reaching that page is the half that worked; reading a services catalogue as a list of problems is the half that did not.

The correction

What a prospect found here, and what it changed

On 1 September 2026 a prospect evaluating PoCify read this page, clicked through to the professional services page two of the quotes come from, and found that it is a catalogue of consulting packages Cockroach Labs sells. "Get a comprehensive operational performance assessment" is the blurb for a package called Health Check. "Optimize your CockroachDB workloads" is the blurb for one called Performance & Optimization. The "your" in both means their customer. We had filed both as that company's operational pain, while listing the same two packages under their core offerings further down this page. Both buying triggers are the same mistake against their homepage. Four for four.

Checking that a quote exists never asked whether the sentence was about the company, so a keyword hunt over any vendor's site found the brochure every time. The product now runs a second gate before an operator sees anything, and it rejects six things: a quote that opens on an imperative, one that addresses the reader as "you" outside a careers page, one that restates something we already listed as one of their offerings, one whose benefit goes to somebody they sell to ("we help engineering teams...", "trusted by 2,000 teams"), one that claims what their product is or does with nothing in it they could be held to, and one that refers to nobody at all, which is a thesis about their market rather than a fact about them. Below is that gate, the shipped code, run over these same four quotes.

On 3 September 2026 the same prospect compiled this gate out of the repository and ran seven ordinary vendor sentences through it. Five were accepted as evidence about the company. The worst of them was the second quote on this page with one word moved: we reject "Achieve high cost efficiency and consolidate databases on a modern PostgreSQL platform" and we accepted "CockroachDB delivers high cost efficiency and database consolidation on a modern PostgreSQL platform". Same sentence, same brochure, opposite verdict, because the first three rules checked grammar: they caught the imperative and the second person, so the identical claim in the declarative or the first person walked straight through. The two rules added above ask who the sentence benefits and whether it claims anything checkable, so the mood no longer decides. On 8 September 2026 the same prospect came back and broke it from both sides at once: the sixth rule was reading the company name at the head of a sentence off a list of the verbs a company may take, so "Figma froze hiring across its infrastructure org" was thrown away and told it held no name, while "Confluent sets data in motion" was kept. A list of verbs can never cover English. The gate now separates the two by tense instead, because something that happened to a company is in the past and the brochure is in the timeless present, and a present-tense sentence still survives if it carries an unhedged count or names somebody else you could ask. What the gate still cannot do: it reads sentences, not meaning. A present-tense fact about a company that names nobody and counts nothing reads to it as brochure and is thrown away, and a sentence can always be true of them and useless to you, which is why the quote and the link are there so you can be the one who checks. On 9 September 2026 they broke the same rule from the other side: it still assumed a company is followed immediately by its verb, so "Vanta, like many of its peers, paused hiring" and "Zapier in the spring lost its head of infrastructure" were thrown away and told they held no name, which is a claim you can disprove by reading the first word. A subject and its verb are now allowed a phrase between them, fenced by commas or headed by a preposition. Two things that costs, both in the cheap direction: a sentence opening on an abstract noun rather than a company ("Migration in the enterprise is slow") is now read as naming somebody, and a brochure line whose verb is hidden behind a phrase ("Fastly at the edge serves content faster than anyone else") can get past the tense rule, because locating a verb behind a phrase needs a dictionary this gate does not have. Both let a positioning line through rather than delete a real signal, which is the direction we would rather be wrong in.

What it found, where, and what the gate says now

Two checks run on every claim, and they are different checks. The first asks whether the quote is really on the page: the model has to name the page and copy the sentence word for word, and we re-read that page and look for it. All four below passed that, and a prospect auditing this page re-fetched the live pages a day later and confirmed it. The second check asks whether the sentence is about the company at all, and all four fail it.

Nothing here we can pin on them

All 4 candidates we found were their own sales copy, which is what they sell rather than what they suffer. Nothing survived that we can pin on this company. Read the pages we crawled yourself before you write, or move to the next prospect.

Careful: the draft below still opens on a sentence we rejected above, so it reads this company's own marketing back to them. Rewrite the opener or regenerate the sequence before you send it.

Both of those sentences are the exact block the product puts on the prospect when a run ends this way, word for word: neither is written for this page, both are imported from the same module the dashboard reads. The second one is a check, not a boast. It read touch 1 below, compared it against the four rejected sentences above, and reported what it found, which is that this draft still opens on one of them because it was generated the day before the gate existed. A page that told you the opener was general would be repeating the mistake this gate was opened over.

The four candidates, and why each one was rejected

4 returned by the run, 4 rejected by the gate. Verdicts computed by the shipped classifier when this page rendered, not stored alongside the capture.

    • Sub-optimal underlying infrastructure and database operational efficiency

Quote found on the pageNot a signal
Get a comprehensive operational performance assessment of both the underlying infrastructure and the database itself, in order to help ensure that everything within CockroachDB functions at peak efficiency.

This sentence is a call to action on their own site, so it is aimed at their customers rather than a statement about them.

    • Migration away from legacy data infrastructure to modern cloud platform architectures

Quote found on the pageNot a signal
Moving away from traditional data infrastructure requires applications and data that are agile, global and resilient.

This sentence never refers to them: no number, no name, nothing in the first person. It is a claim about their market, which is positioning rather than evidence.

What the sender sells

What the sender sells, entered once and injected into every generation. This is why the draft talks about storage tiering and a costed plan rather than praising their website.

Offer
Acme Cloud Practice
What it does
A two-week cloud cost and platform review for software teams, ending in a costed remediation plan your engineers can execute.
Ideal customer
Mid-size software companies running their own infrastructure, 30 to 300 engineers, where the cloud bill is growing faster than headcount.
Pain points it solves
Cloud spend rising faster than revenue; nobody owns the bill; data and storage tiers never revisited after launch; engineers guessing at instance sizing; finance asking for a forecast nobody can produce.
Proof points
Cut a Series C analytics platform 380k a year off AWS in nine weeks, mostly storage tiering and right-sizing. Fourteen reviews delivered over four years. Acme writes the plan your team executes, and does not resell tooling.
Preferred tone
Direct, technical, peer to peer. No hype, no flattery.
Call to action
Ask if they want a 20 minute call to hear where I would look first.

The sequence it drafted

Three touches, scheduled, with the subject lines the product wrote. This is the whole text of each email, copied out of the run and not touched since. Read the opener with the section above in mind: "Your site highlights helping customers achieve high cost efficiency" is their own tagline handed back to them, and it is the sentence the gate now exists to prevent. On a run with nothing attributable, the product no longer writes that sentence and says so on the prospect instead.

Cloud infrastructure sizing and cost

Body

Hi [Name], Your site highlights helping customers achieve high cost efficiency and consolidate databases while tuning underlying infrastructure. When software teams run heavy database workloads, cloud spend often starts rising faster than revenue. Data tiers are rarely revisited after launch, and engineers end up guessing at instance sizing. We run Acme Cloud Practice, a two-week cloud cost and platform review for software teams. We analyze your infrastructure footprint and deliver a costed remediation plan your engineers execute. We cut $380k a year off AWS for a Series C analytics platform in nine weeks, mostly through storage tiering and right-sizing. We do not resell tooling, so our recommendations are entirely unbiased. Do you want a 20 minute call to hear where I would look first?

Re: Cloud infrastructure sizing and cost

Body

Hi [Name], Following up on my note. A common issue we see in growing infrastructure platforms is finance asking for a forecast nobody can produce because no single team owns the bill. Across 14 reviews delivered over four years, we help engineering teams establish clear infrastructure cost control without selling extra software. Are you open to a brief chat this week?

Re: Cloud infrastructure sizing and cost

Body

Hi [Name], I will assume cloud spend remediation is not a priority right now. If your cloud bill ever starts growing faster than engineering headcount, we offer a two-week review that hands your team a costed plan they can execute. I will leave the door open if things change down the road.

What this page is not

One run, not the best of ten

This is a single generation, captured the first time it produced a full sequence against this company. It was not selected from a batch and it was not tidied up afterwards. Another run on the same site would word things differently, which is why the product lets you regenerate and edit before anything is sent.

A crawl is a snapshot

The four pages listed below were read on the date stamped above, and the four quotes were confirmed word for word on the live pages the same day. Their site can change after that. If a quote no longer matches, the link is right there and you will catch it faster than we will.

The sender is fictional, the prospect is not

Acme Cloud Practice does not exist. It is a stand-in offer profile so you can see how the draft bridges their problem to a service, which is the part a generic tool skips. Cockroach Labs is a real company, chosen because their site is public and substantial. They have no relationship with PoCify, they did not review this page, and no email from this sequence was ever sent to them or to anyone else.

This run predates the gate it failed

The capture above was generated on 31 August 2026 and the attribution gate shipped on 1 September, so what you are reading is the old pipeline plus the new check applied to its output. That is the honest arrangement but it is not the strongest one: we owe you a fresh live run, against a company that is a plain buyer rather than a peer selling adjacent services, generated with the gate already in place. Until that is captured this page stays as it is, because deleting the run that exposed the problem would be the worst thing we could do with it.

Bracketed names are ours, on purpose

The draft opens on "Hi [Name]," because the product does not guess at a person. You put the name in, along with anything else you want to change, before you send.

Now do it on a company you actually want

The free plan runs this loop on your own prospects with no card. Researching a company costs one operation, drafting the outreach sequence costs one more, and a proof-of-concept pitch is a third: 3 operations to work a prospect end to end, out of 25 a month. That is 8 prospects researched and drafted before you decide anything.
